*KENYA - The central bank auctions 91-day, 182-day and
364-day Treasury bills worth a total 24 billion shillings.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian shares extended gains on Thursday and U.S. stock
futures jumped after China said it will hold trade talks
with the United States in early October, raising hopes they
can de-escalate their trade war before it inflicts further

WORLD OIL PRICES
Oil prices rose on Thursday, rebounding from earlier losses,
after the U.S. confirmed that talks with China to reach a
trade agreement would be held in the coming weeks, giving
hope that a dispute that has roiled global economies will be

SOUTH AFRICA MARKETS
South Africa's rand rose to a four-week high on Wednesday
backed by a better-than-expected jump in second-quarter
growth and improved risk sentiment globally, brushing off
concerns over anti-immigrant protests. PETROLEUM
A U.S. judge on Wednesday rejected Exxon Mobil (NYSE:XOM) Corp's
XOM.N and Royal Dutch Shell Plc's RDSa.L effort to
revive a $1.8 billion arbitration award against Nigeria's
state-run oil company, which stemmed from a dispute over a
1993 contract to extract oil near the African country's
coastline. MARKETS
The Kenyan shilling KES= weakened against the dollar on
Wednesday due to excess liquidity in the local money market
and increased dollar demand from oil importers, traders
said. PIPELINE
Work on a pipeline to export Ugandan oil has been suspended,
an industry official said on Wednesday, after Tullow Oil's
TLW.L plan to sell a stake in the project to France's
Total TOTF.PA and China's CNOOC 0883.HK was called off
last week. POLITICS
Burundi is at risk of a new wave of atrocities as it
approaches a 2020 election with an unresolved political
crisis and a president increasingly portrayed as a "divine"
ruler, U.N. investigators said in a report on
Wednesday. COAST POLITICS
Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara named a new
government on Wednesday in which Adama Coulibaly will assume
the role of finance minister, the government said in a
